Our Team

It is our aim to make you comfortable at your visit. We practice dentistry with transparency, this means no hidden surprises. Our dentists are locally trained, regularly educated, and are here to help you make an informed decision. We’re here to hold your hand to guide you through sometimes, unfortunately, difficult scenarios.

Our equipment is state of the art. We use digital radiographs, cameras and utilise digital milling services.
Our girls are all RMIT certificate-trained in Melbourne and know how to keep our place tidy! Our practice is clean, eco-friendly (mercury free, amalgam water filters, digital low exposure radiation, biodegradable cups/plastics).

Our team is composed of 6 dentists (3 male, 3 female) to cater to your individual needs, each of us have particular fields of interest. Our aim is work together as a team to help you and only you. We all look forward to meeting you we hope you have found home.

Dr. Anthony Chiu, (Hons) BDSc (WA)

Anthony graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Science with Honours. He worked in private practice in Perth, Western Australia before moving to Melbourne. Anthony has undertaken further training in various aspects of cosmetic procedures including aesthetic bonding (non-invasive direct bonding). Anthony is fluent in English and Cantonese. Anthony works from Monday to Saturdays and is dedicated to educate and provide gentle dental care his patients in all aspects of preventative, restorative and cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Joyce Lin, (Hons) BDSc (QLD)

Joyce graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours. Joyce takes enormous pleasure in caring for and looking after all aspects of patients’ dental health. She firmly believes in the importance of education both empowering her patients with oral health knowledge as well as her own continuing professional development. Joyce has honed in her skills on dental injectables and fillers, and has a keen beauty eye! Outside of dentistry, Joyce enjoys playing the piano and practising yoga. Joyce speaks English and Mandarin and is available on Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Dr. Amanda To, DMD (WA) MPharm, BMsc (SYD)

After completing Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Sydney, she went to study Doctor of Dental Medicine. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry particularly preventative and restorative dentistry. Amanda believes in providing her patients with high quality of care in a gentle and positive manner.

Outside of Dentistry, she enjoys cooking and exploring local markets. Amanda speaks English and Cantonese and she is available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Saturdays.

Dr. James You, BDSc (Adel)

James completed his studies in Adelaide after which he returned home to work at the Sydney Dental Hospital. There he gained a wealth of knowledge and experience working alongside specialists in their respective departments as well as general dentists in the community clinics helping serve the local community. With this solid foundation, James moved into private practice where he has enjoyed all aspects of general dentistry, with a special interest in root canal treatment and wisdom teeth removal.

With a gentle and calm demeanour, James will be happy to discuss all treatment options and provide high quality care best suited to each individual patient.

Outside of work, James enjoys travelling and staying active through skiing, golf and basketball and he is fluent in English and Korean.

Dr. Michelle Van, BHSc MDent (Latrobe)

Michelle graduated from Latrobe University in Bendigo with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciene and a Masters in Dentistry. She works in several private practices across Melbourne. She is an accredited provider of Relative Analgesia (Nitrous Oxide) and is a member of the ADSA and ADA. She really enjoys the management and treatment of children and believes dental visits should start early to minimise the difficulties associated with dental decay in the young. Michelle has keen interests in early intervention of orthodontic issues and is currently completing further training in fixed orthodontics. Michelle is a certified provider of Fastbraces and undergoing certification for Invisalign. Michelle is fluent in English and Japanese; with some simple Cantonese and Vietnamese. Michelle’s schedule is quite busy. She works with us part-time on Friday and Saturdays. It is a joy to have her at our practice.

Dr. Timothy Van, BDSc (WA)

Timothy graduated at the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor’s in Dental Science. Timothy works in several private practices across Melbourne. An as accredited provider of Relative Analgesia (Nitrous Oxide), he has been able to provide gentle dental care in a calm and caring environment without the associated anxiety. Timothy enjoys the management of complex dental problems and cosmetic rehabilitation. Timothy is an Alumni of the gIDE Master Clinician Implant Program with Loma Linda University in Los Angeles, USA. Timothy returns to Vietnam for voluntary dental trips through a non-profit organisation CHAT. Last trip in 2014, he lead the group to Vinh Long province to the south of Vietnam treating young children. Timothy Van is a graduate from Progressive Orthodontics, certified Invisalign / Invisalign Teen. He is a member of the ASID, ICOI, ADA, ASDA. He is fluent in English, Cantonese and Vietnamese. Timothy consults on Monday mornings and Friday evenings.

Our experience with Dr Tim and his team was absolutely fantastic. Our family had a fair amount of work done and would highly recommend Preston Smiles to people who need a patient and experienced dentist to themselves and children especially. We trust them because they always gave us good advice to fix and protect teeth and the prices are definitely reasonable.

Mom had long-standing problems with her teeth which worsened over the past few years. After hearing good things about Dr Chiu at Preston Smiles from friends, I decided to book mom in for a consultation. Dr Chiu was thorough in finding the root cause of mom's discomfort, and was very patient at explaining things to mom in Cantonese. Other than his excellent scientific knowledge, I was also impressed by his effort in providing cost-effective treatment options. It took us two visits to restore mom's teeth, but mom has never complained about her teeth after that.

Dr Chiu (pronounced 'chew', and who tolerates the inevitable jokes with good humour) is my idea of the perfect dentist. He is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to explain why I need work done and how to prevent problems in future. That leaves me best able to look after my teeth. In fact, now I think back on it, since my initial treatments to correct some longstanding issues, I've followed his advice and haven't needed anything but a routine scale and clean since. Speaks for itself, really. He is passionate and patient with his work to the point of fussiness, which for someone who pokes around in your mouth with sharp implements, is the right attitude to have. The clinic is well maintained and has a comforting atmosphere, and the reception staff are always friendly and accommodating.

Excellent experience. Dr Chiu is one of the most professional dentist I have ever had. He is willing to spend time to discuss my tooth treatment and patiently answer any questions I had with the dental procedures. The information he provided allowed me to make informed decisions unlike other dentists who would just tell me what I need (without telling me the consequences of the procedures). Definitely would recommend Dr Chiu to everyone.

Dr Chiu is one of the best dentists i ever had. Very professional and very patient. He explained the procedures in a very detailed way to ensure i fully understand what is going to happen during the session. I highly recommend him to everyone.
